A Challenge from Sweden

A Challenge from Sweden

A Challenge from Sweden is supported by Mission Innovation as a new approach to build public-private innovation collaborations. It promotes challenge-driven innovation to support public and private organisations. The goal is to accelerate the shift towards a zero carbon, growth economy with more than 100 million tonnes in avoided emissions.

Through a series of competitions, events and other initiatives, A Challenge from Sweden encourages co-operation in innovation procurement, testing and implementation.
It also provides innovators and entrepreneurs with access to investors and opportunities to commercialise sustainable solutions.

We look forward to work with the avoided emissions framework in the assessment of avoided emissions and a shift among cities where reduced emissions is linked to export and the reduced emissions from that exports.

AI4Good

AI4Good

By building lasting communities that bring the best technologies to bear on the world’s most important challenges, the AI for Good Foundation drives forward solutions that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). We do this by coordinating the AI research community, technologists, data, and infrastructure with the stakeholders on the ground, policy makers, and the broader public. We look forward to work with the 1.5 C Compatible Framework and explore how the use of AI can be used to provide estimations of avoided emissions as well as early identification of possible 1.5 C compatible solutions and the clusters capable of accelerating the uptake of these.

CII Sustainability

CII Sustainability

The mission of CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development (CII-ITC CESD) is to catalyse innovative ideas and solutions, in India, and globally, to enable business, and its stakeholders, in sustainable value creation. The vision is to be a global leader, in thought and action, to drive transformation, towards sustainable development.

Currently CII-ITC CESD is engaged in a number of projects where avoided emissions is an important part. One example is CAP 2.0°. It is is a recognition and capability enhancement programme for businesses to become climate resilient. Based on a CII climate-maturity model and using the principles of business excellence framework, CAP 2.0° helps businesses to contract climate risks and exploit market opportunities.

Moving Indian industry into climate action, CAP 2.0° is a benchmark programme recognizing industry climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives with the purpose of cascading learnings and encouraging quick scale up, thereby contributing to India's climate goals. Stressing on the importance of building climate resilient strategy and incorporating climate change risk analysis by decision makers, CAP 2.0° will persuade Indian industry to take a holistic approach to climate change.

CII-ITC CESD has been part of the work with avoided emissions for many years and look forward to work with Mission Innovation’s 1.5 °C Compatible Solution Framework to explore synergies.

Cleantech Scandinavia

Cleantech Scandinavia

Cleantech Scandinavia has already arranged a workshop to explore the opportunities with the Avoided Emissions Framework. With an increased interest from investors in quantified impacts from solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions the development of the Avoided Emissions Framework is very timely. Cleantech Scandinavia look forward to continue to explore how the framework can help link investors and start-ups to ensure a significant increase investment in low-carbon solution providers.

Climathon

Climathon

Originally conceptualised as a 24-hour hackathon by Climate-KIC, Climathon has since taken off as a global movement, engaging citizens on climate action. With an issue as pressing as climate change, we cannot afford inaction. Climathon gives cities and their citizens the opportunity to take their future into their own hands by developing and implementing grassroots solutions addressing the local challenges they face.

Climathon look forward to explore opportunities to use the 1.5 °C Compatible Solutions Framework to identity 1.5 °C compatible solutions and encourage citizens to create clusters that can deliver the transformative system change that are needed to avoid dangerous climate change while also delivering on multiple other sustainability goals.

Cybercom and digitalisation Consultants for a Fossil Free Future

Cybercom and digitalisation Consultants for a Fossil Free Future

Cybercom is an innovative IT consultancy firm. We are working every day to connect people, machines and services to make them work more smoothly together. Our consultants and the solutions they create take us all the way from e-services to streamed media and driverless cars, national eIDs, secure card payments and health apps to healthcare, connected cranes and lifts and smart industrial robots.

Cybercom I leading the work with a roadmap for a fossil free Sweden together with 33 other digitalisation consultant companies. A general focus was to shift focus from only reducing emissions from current big emitters to also support a new generation of solution providers. One specific focus was a call for increased reporting of scope 4/net-positive/avoided emissions as well as a strong focus on solutions compatible with the 1.5 °C LED pathway.

Cybercom, together with the colleagues in the digitalisation consultant sector look forward to collaborate with the 1.5 °C Compatible Solutions Framework to develop a framework for avoided emissions that can be used by companies in Sweden, with particular focus on the impact of digitalisation. We hope to be the first sector that is able to report a joint contribution to avoided emissions.

South Pole

South Pole

South Pole is a leading provider of global sustainability financing solutions and services, with over 300 experts in 16 global offices. For more than a decade, South Pole has worked with a wide range of public, private and civil sector organisations to accelerate the transition to a climate-smart society.

The concept of climate positivity is a ‘hot’ topic at the moment, with many companies already claiming climate positive products or setting climate positive targets. Nevertheless there is currently no commonly accepted definition of what ‘climate positive’ really means. South Pole and its partners see this both as a risk and an opportunity. A risk, because it could affect the reputation of the actors pursuing climate positive claims based on approaches that are not scientifically sound or widely accepted by civil society organisations. An opportunity because there is clearly a desire by companies, investors, governments and the civil society to participate in a consensus driven process to jointly define what “climate positive” means and how it could be achieved.

South Pole looks forward to explore how the avoided emissions framework can help inform the development of a “climate positive framework” that would guide companies, investors and cities on how to become “climate positive” in a way that is compatible with a 1.5° C development path.
