1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Transparent, heat reflecting nanotech

Transparent, heat reflecting nanotech

NanoScreen wrote: Up to 40% of electricity costs in office buildings are due to air-conditioning and with dwindling energy resources, there is a need of new energy-efficient products on the market. At present, opaque and translucent window films are used to cut out the amount of light and heat entering a room. Yet, these can only stop a small portion of heat from entering, while compromising the transparency of glass windows. That is the reason we came up with an innovative energy-saving solution: nanoscreen. . Nanoscreen is a unique, transparent polymer-based screen embedded with special ir-reflecting nanoparticles, therefore reducing the cost of air-conditioning... UV-Reactor for cold pasteurisation

Lyras wrote: This invention relates to uv-reactor instrument for cold pasteurization of liquid food products. It utilizes uv-c light, which is well known for its germicidal properties and leaves no trace behind. In this manner, the food products being treated will remain fresh and natural. Not only does the uv-reactor treat the liquid food products with more care than traditional heat pasteurization it also uses 91 % less energy... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Removal of microplastic by nature

Removal of microplastic by nature

Batea Biotech wrote: Batea biotech is on a mission to remove microplastic found in the water used by fish farmers. Microplastic, small particles of plastic, will be taken up by the fish and eventually accumulate in the human body, when we eat the fish. The value of our idea lays in the innovative way, we will, remove the microplastic completely. Using only the flow energy and natural inspired components our filter can not only remove more microplastic than the current products, but they will also be saving the fish farmers from using electricity. Hereby, providing the fish farmers with a cheaper and more sustainable production and a more clean product to sell!.. Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Bioplastic from microorganisms

Bioplastic from microorganisms

CosmoCrops wrote: In today's society plastic is used almost everywhere, however, it is very hard for the environment because nature cannot degrade it, and it will interfere with the ecosystems. Cosmocrops has developed a new production system that can produce biodegradable plastic (bioplastic), without the use of plants or field space. Our new and innovative production system relys on two microorganisms who can work together, and by the use of solar energy and co2 from the air produce bioplastic. By selling this bioplastic to the danish food packaging industry, we can decrease the amount of conventional plastic used, while providing a much more sustainable solution... Turn Buildings into Large Air Purification Systems

Turn Buildings into Large Air Purification Systems

PurCity wrote: Purcity has developed for the first time in the world a pct patented, sustainable and highly efficient self-cleaning air purification system that turns new or existing buildings into large scale air purifiers. It is called gaps, and consists of industrial panels that are a great substitute for exterior aluminium facades. Gaps shape has been designed like a double facade, which produces a chimney effect to naturally suck the polluted air into the gaps chemically activated exterior wall-panels, which removes both pm2. 5 particles and toxic gases like sox, nox, vocs and carbon dioxide. The clean air is then delivered to the building through the hvac system, which saves 10-20% (15-30 kwh/m2) of energy consumption while delivering pure air...
