1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

So that the change of the daily routine becomes more easy and makes fun. We want to bring people together and provide leaderboards, so that they can compete against each other. We want to support the local economy with self-conscious customers, who are being rewarded for their environmentally-friendly shopping. And we can also help the local government to get in touch with users to gather new ideas for their important work, so that there is a way from the city to the users and from the users back to the city... Community gardening app

Garden Tender wrote: Anyone with an interest in gardening can sign up to explore their city's gardens and gardeners and help each other produce sustainable food and build strong connections. Users can be complete newbies, advanced garden gurus, or even just those who have a patch to tend and no time to work on it. When they sign up, they can enter their own garden space, including any unused plots they want other users to collaborate on. Next they can use the map to find other users' gardens and available plots to tend close to home. If they're ready to start gardening, they can make a booking in an available plot, adding the plants they'll grow there. Plants will be stored for each user, and users can access a database of plant care info for each one... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

Freight club against transport emissions

Freight club against transport emissions

Freight Club wrote: Our solution is a software that enables companies in dense industrial areas to connect to share their unused capacities. This can easily be rolled out in additional areas as there are thousands of similar cases in germany and beyond. Furthermore, closer collaboration on transport could lower the risk of transitioning to lower-emissions vehicles, such as electric of fuel cell trucks. The software could be financed by a subscription model for the participating firms. The cost savings and image improvement through lowering emissions and increasing efficiency will more than make up for the subscription fee... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

Sustainable energy from nitrogen

Sustainable energy from nitrogen

greeNergy wrote: Greenhouse gas emissions, especially n2o emissions, are emitted by treating the residues of biogas processes. Recent studies have revealed that n2o emissions contribute to approximately 6% to the global climate change and are potentially the main contributor to the ozone depletion of the 20th century. The greenergy process combines intentional n2o production from biogas production residues, subsequent harvesting and combustion with biogas. As a result, clean water and green energy from n2o combustion ultimately make the biogas production a more self-sufficient and clean technology... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Digital platform with an incentive system

EcoIncome wrote: Today’s average consumption based ghg emissions per person in the western world are way too high. But there are no really good icentives to reduce them. Our digital platform with an eco fee and share mechanism enables a competition for the lowest eco footprints: 1) the eco footprints of the users are measured mainly automatically on the basis of financial spending information, 2) the users monthly virtually pay for their eco footprints, 3) 100% of entire revenue are redistributed equally within the community ("ecoincome"). 4) finally, the users' surplus and deficit amounts are subject to real financial transaction. Positive effect: constant motivation for everyone to reduce their eco footprints... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad
