1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

In short, bloodlink has developed a solution that will alleviate the shortage of donor blood and help manage blood donation in developing countries across the world. This solution enters the market for online platforms by providing a smooth and effective way to connect different stakeholders: blood banks, hospitals, patients and blood donors. Mahlzeit wrote: Every year in households with 1 person 98 kg of food is wasted. There is millions of people living alone in larger cities. If there are just 2 people in a household the food waste per person per year is reduced with 34%. It is difficult in households of 1 to cook meals from scratch because ingredients are often bought in bulk and after cooking 1 meal the unused ingredients eventually end up in the trash bin. Mahlzeit proposes a way to share meals more easily within neighborhoods to reduce food waste, help homechefs earn money, make homecooked meals available to everyone and to create a more diverse market of takeaway food. The product is a web app, a two-sided platform, where users either buy food, sell food or both... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad
