1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Gamifying recycling to educate consumers

Gamifying recycling to educate consumers

Bingoing wrote: Contamination levels of recyclable waste are as high as 50% in some urban areas, resulting in increasing costs and penalties, and also lost opportunity for revenue. Compared to the 50% target set by eu for 2023, yield from recycling including energy recovery is currently at 34% for plastics - there's still a long way to go. We believe that one of the root causes of this situation is lack of proper awareness among household consumers, who are willing to do the right thing but require more knowledge and tools. We want to address this knowledge gap with a fun and exciting solution. Bingoing teaches consumers about better waste management habbits, with a fun, social and competitive set of games... Cooking with household waste

Cooking with household waste

Residential Biogas wrote: We provide apartment residents with biogas for cooking that is produced from local organic waste. An anaerobic digester that will be part of the buildings initial design will provide biogas produced of local organic matter directly to apartments in residential buildings. By using unique designated home "trash can", the system will make waste disposal easier. It will transport home organic waste directly to a smart digestion unit and will provide clean energy in the form of biogas to apartment units for cooking. The system will provide a solution for the organic fraction of the solid waste from residential buildings on the one hand and will reduce the consumption of the current cooking energy on the other hand... Sustainable solar heating for agriculture

Sustainable solar heating for agriculture

Pelenergy wrote: In the 15th century, growers developed methods of artificially heating greenhouses to grow food in the winter. Today, more than 500 years later, pelenergy is revolutionizing the way greenhouses are heated. We have developed a unique method of capturing and storing solar heat for use on demand. Our system arrives in a shipping container which has been specially designed to be easily moved and assembled, and is compatible with any standard greenhouse system. The low initial cost and maintenance, along with no fuel expenses helps growers increase profits while providing a fast return on investment... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Perimat wrote: Because of increasing fish demand and shrinking fisheries, aquaculture gradually replaces fish catch. Aquaculture still has to overcome few challenges- waste treatment and expensive fish-based feed are the main ones. Perimat is able to do both jobs- filter fish effluents in a reasonable areal rate and the biomass produced is able to replace 30% of fish feed, and in addition, reduce considerable ghg emissions. Make insect farming simple

Make insect farming simple

FreezeM wrote: Insects have the potential of becoming a central resource in the feed industry. But in order to replace traditional feed ingredients such as fishmeal, they must be produced at an industrial scale with high stability and quality. Currently, each insect farm has to maintain the entire life cycle internally in order to supply its own demand for eggs. This process is inefficient and costly, making it very difficult to increase the production scale. Our product is viable frozen insect eggs. These eggs can be supplied on-demand to any player in the growing industry of insect protein production... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Using climate and geographical data from copernicus europe's eyes on earth, along with other urban data sources and users’ feedback,.
