1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

In snowmelt dominated catchments (1/4 of the world’s hydropower), uncertain snowmelt quantities deteriorate inflow predictions resulting in overall losses of 7-10%, annually. Our solution to this problem includes data from multiple satellite constellations, ground station networks and numerical weather forecasts to derive real-time snow quantities in a 20 m spatial resolution for entire mountain ranges. Using scalable cloud processing and innovative machine learning algorithms, we are capable to serve hydropower stations globally... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

While only 20% of the plastic bottles and species produced in the world are recycled, most of them damage the oceans and soil for hundreds of years. Recycling is achieved by consuming more energy than bottle production in the 20% recycled part.
