1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Sustainable solar heating for agriculture

Sustainable solar heating for agriculture

Pelenergy wrote: In the 15th century, growers developed methods of artificially heating greenhouses to grow food in the winter. Today, more than 500 years later, pelenergy is revolutionizing the way greenhouses are heated. We have developed a unique method of capturing and storing solar heat for use on demand. Our system arrives in a shipping container which has been specially designed to be easily moved and assembled, and is compatible with any standard greenhouse system. The low initial cost and maintenance, along with no fuel expenses helps growers increase profits while providing a fast return on investment... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Sustainable products from rise hull-based nano materials

Sustainable products from rise hull-based nano materials

Consulting and Energy develops and produces sustainable products based on nanomaterials obtained from the recovery of rice husk waste that would otherwise end up on landfills. The husk is initially used as fuel for energy production in a biomass plant that has an ash yield of 20%, which is the basis for several businesses lines that have been developed by the company: production of solar grade silicon, lithium battery material, aerogels for water irrigation, an enzymatic catalyst and structural insulated panel with an insulation sheet of aggregated rice husk.

Sustainable passive cooling house

Sustainable passive cooling house

Sustainable Passive Cooling wrote: Our solution tackles extreme weather events; extreme temperatures to be exact, either it be low extremes or high. The solution constitutes two phases: spreading awareness regarding environmental and economic damages related to using conventional cooling/heating systems, then introducing new approaches of eco-friendly cooling/heating techniques. The first phase consists of launching awareness campaigns through social media and field visits. Extreme temperature leads to over consumption of energy, causing an increase in levels of co2, further exasperating the surge in temperature; in the second phase we aim to cool houses passively without the continuous use of conventional air conditioning systems... Sustainable Packaging made from Jute

Sustainable Packaging made from Jute

PackItGreen wrote: Plastics and synthetic materials harm our environment since decades and put a strain on the whole ecosystem and every individual. With the developing e-commerce sector we are facing another problem of too much plastic waste in packaging. Packitgreen develops and provides insulating packaging made from jute as a sustainable alternative to styrofoam. As b2b business we offer our packaging solution to online-shop providers, who sell and ship sensible goods e. G. Food to the end customer. These goods have to comply with certain temperature values during their transport to the customer. Therefore many sellers use styrofoam as a simple yet cheap packaging solution. Sustainable manufacturing of coconut waste

Sustainable manufacturing of coconut waste

CoirWood wrote: The manufacturing of wooden furniture products involves a lot of deforestation and chemical products. Additionally, coconut waste (i. E. Coconut husks) occupy huge areas in asia and are therefore burnt or left to rot which subsequently leads to pollution. Together these form the input for coirwood its proposed sustainable business idea. . Instead of burning or leaving these husks, coirwood aims to manufacture 100% bio based fibre boards which will serve as a substitute for the wooden medium density fibre (mdf) boards. The fibre boards are fire- and water resistant and even more stronger than the mdf boards... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Sustainable kitchens

Sustainable kitchens

Environmentally fella wrote: Sustainable kitchens have a solar cooker, a solar heater for water as well as a solar dryer for fruits and vegetables. These devices are environmentally friendly because of their use of renewable energy, whereby they convert solar energy into heat, as well as being relatively affordable, another plus is that this kitchen employs a simple technology that can be used in refugee camps, in addition to it's variable sizes. It can also assist in creating extra income resources through the production and selling of dried foods. Part of our solution also involves carrying out awareness campaigns for citizens on how to use these kitchens and on environmental conservation... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

Sustainable energy from nitrogen

greeNergy wrote: Greenhouse gas emissions, especially n2o emissions, are emitted by treating the residues of biogas processes. Recent studies have revealed that n2o emissions contribute to approximately 6% to the global climate change and are potentially the main contributor to the ozone depletion of the 20th century.
