1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

We produce fuel and grill briquette

We produce fuel and grill briquette

RioRE Briquette wrote: Our aim is to produce fuel and grill briquette from raspberry biological waste, and correspondingly engage local population in collecting such waste. Briquettes. Are cheap, and they burn longer than wood. Wood is the main heating source in the western serbia, which leads to deforestation in this region. Forest area has decreased by 20% in the last 10 years. Production of briquette does not include timber – which is an obvious advantage. Economically speaking, usage of biomass for production of briquette that can be used for thermo-energetic purposes is the most cost-effective source of renewable energy... We make paper pulp acoustic panels

We make paper pulp acoustic panels

echofixer wrote: Being a musician and a carpenter for more than three decades, in my search for better sound for my home studio i’ve discovered that neither egg cartons nor wood are the best solution. Our product is a paper pulp acoustic panel that can be used as a sound diffuser to fix the echo in a room and improve sound clarity and quality. It spreads sound evenly back in the room, just like photographers use light diffusers on their flashes to avoid hard shadows. Its design is based on existing tried and tested methods. Paper pulp is affordable and it is light enough to be easily installed by just one person. It’s also recycled, recyclable and fully biodegradable... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

We make hydropower more cost-effective

We make hydropower more cost-effective

ExoLabs wrote: Hydropower operators need accurate water inflow predictions to generate energy most profitably. In snowmelt dominated catchments (1/4 of the world’s hydropower), uncertain snowmelt quantities deteriorate inflow predictions resulting in overall losses of 7-10%, annually. Our solution to this problem includes data from multiple satellite constellations, ground station networks and numerical weather forecasts to derive real-time snow quantities in a 20 m spatial resolution for entire mountain ranges. Using scalable cloud processing and innovative machine learning algorithms, we are capable to serve hydropower stations globally... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad
