1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

SUM Green Tunnel wrote: A problem of heat island effect and missing greenery in cities is more and more increasing and serious. . The concept of sum green tunnel is dedicated for urban spaces, especially along communication lines where conditions for trees or shrubs development are unfavorable or impossible. . It is designed as a modular and multifunctional construction covered with evergreen climbing plants. The sum green tunnel is made from 5 m long segments which are able to merge and make together a tunnel from both sides. . Thanks to climbing plants the whole construction cleans polluted air by reducing co2, improve local humidity and muffle the noise from transport... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

MiningSandboxAR

MiningSandboxAR wrote: Augmented reality sandbox (ar sandbox) is based on a container filled with sand, using the sand, gives the opportunity to use surface what can be shaped as required. The topography of the sand surface is continuously scanned by a 3d sensor and a camera (kinect technology, what is used for example in xbox). In computer, the scanned surface is now blended with a digital geological 3d model in real-time and an image is calculated, which is projected onto the sand surface by means of a beamer. The result is an interactive model, which user can interact and which visualizes and comprehend complex three-dimensional facts in an accessible way... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Air-to-air heat exchanger for cooling

Air-to-air heat exchanger for cooling

Air conditioning systems consume considerable power and have a large carbon footprint. TORO Water Air Thermal Technologies Corp have developed an air-to-air heat exchanger for cooling which they claim saves 50–80% energy compared to Conventional AC systems. It offers energy-efficient, climate friendly air conditioning alternatives and uses water as a refrigerant with Separate Sensible and Latent Cooling to maintain a comfortable range of temperature and humidity in multiple climate zones. Air Conditioners with this technology eliminate Ozone Depleting / High GWP refrigerants and reduce carbon emissions. This technology can be adapted for Residential, Commercial and Industrial cooling applications.

Smart, energy efficient acoustic panels

Smart, energy efficient acoustic panels

Silencions wrote: Our mission is to stop and reverse the noise pollution process caused by the industrial progress and bring back the silence to peoples’ everyday life. Constant exposure to noise causes variety of health problems ranging from sleep disturbance to tinnitus and cardiovascular diseases and has a significant impact on natural ecosystems, often forcing animals to migrate from their natural environment to less polluted areas. At silencions we aim to improve the quality of people’s life and to restore the balance in local ecosystems by permanent reduction of noise emission of industrial sites, vehicles and household goods... Micro Catch

Micro Catch

Micro Catch wrote: Micro catch is a solution for filtering microfibers during the washing cycle of synthetic clothes in our homes - preventing these from ending up in our oceans. Our innovation lies within (1) the development of an innovative technology that will not only contain/filter the microfibers but also degrade them and; (2) doing it in a way to allow for multiple product applications. We will develop a solution with plastic degradation capabilities and self-cleaning function that can be integrated directly in washing machines (and, in the future, other applications such as waste water treatment facilities, food processing water treatment, etc. )... Reef - Reactions For Efficiency

Reef - Reactions For Efficiency wrote: Nowadays, the world still get 83% of our energy from fossil fuels. This is not sustainable! . In this sense, the european union approved in 2018 the red ii: a 7% quota for 2nd generation biofuels in transport. Now, there is a huge demand (by law) and all fuel distributors concerned about the commercial supply of this second generation biofuels. . We, from reef, have developed a smart way to convert residues from forest, agriculture or urbans activities into bioethanol. Despite applications in food or cosmetic industries, the initial focus will be as additive to be blended with gasoline as there is a huge potential of ghg savings! and also: up to 25% there is no need of any engine changes. ...
