1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

#Geneveuxplusdautos wrote: To work towards reducing co2 emissions in geneva our proposition is to provide a radical yet digestible weekly event. Our proposition is to create car-free zones every wednesday (when kids under 16 leave school at noon) in selected areas. Markets would take place on closed streets, the cars having been moved to ideally centralized parking locations. The public transport system would be free or provide promotions, especially for those directly affected by the ‘event’. To compensate, businesses will be encouraged to let those who can, work from home on wednesday and experience a carless day. The objective is to incite social change in habits and values by creating the opportunity for individuals and families to experience new routines... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon
