1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Bio - Alkanol Gel Fuel

Bio - Alkanol Gel Fuel

Bio - Alkanol Gel Fuel wrote: It is estimated that in kenya, biomass fuels account for more than 90% of primary energy supply regardless of the adverse effects it has on the environment. Bio-alkanol gel is a thick liquid fuel which is a mixture of alkanol, cellulose and water. It’s an alternative biofuel which has been innovated so as to reduce kenya’s reliance on imported petroleum based products. Exploitation of sugars in mango, banana, watermelon, orange and papaya fruit peelings through microbial fermentation and egg shells as a source of bio-fuel is a novel undertaking. The conversion of fruit peeling cellulose biomass into cellulosic-alkanol and egg shells into calcium acetate (gelling agent) is an innovative way of turning waste into wealth. ... Rovuma Aquaponics

Rovuma Aquaponics

Rovuma Aquaponics wrote: Rovuma aquaponics produce organic vegetable and fish from combination of two sustainable system, the aquaculture and hydroponics, to respond the high food demand. This system basically uses water, light, feed given to the aquatic animals, and electricity to pump the water. The vegetables plants are grown in hydroponics, and the fish is raised in an aquaculture system. The fish is fed and the excrete waster is converted by beneficial bacteria to nutrients that the plants use. In consuming these nutrients, the plants help to purify the water which is then supplied to the fish... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Regreening the Desert Training Centre

Regreening the Desert Training Centre

Regenerative Agriculture Sudan wrote: A training and demonstration site that teaches herding communities and individuals how to produce pastures from desert land using only their livestock and rain. This process of regreening the desert was pioneered by allan savory and is known as holistic planned grazing. It fights desertification all the while sequestering massive amounts of co2. The training centre will seek to 1) spread the practice of these sustainable grazing methods, 2) incubate projects implementing these methods, and 3) provide clients with a promising export market for livestock products abroad, where climate-friendly meat and produce are quickly becoming a trend...
