1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020
Flowmetrics wrote: Flowmetrics’ dynamic flood flow management helps cities to tackle urban flooding in a way that is intelligent, cost-effective and citizen-inclusive. The tool identifies urban flood risk hotspots and nearby areas that can withstand a lot of water, and quantifies their absorption capacity by using a distributed network of sensors as well as satellite imagery wherever possible. During a flood, highly impacted areas are connected with the identified absorbing areas by using mobile infrastructure that can easily be put in place by citizens and professionals... Report and Ride wrote: Report and ride solution consists of two parts. The app for bicyclists allows to make a photo of an infrastructure problem, add the description and upload the information to the cloud. All the reported problems are shown on the map for other bicyclists, who can add more photos or comments to the description of the problem. To motivate bicyclists to use the app and report issues, the app has functionality of an activity tracker, providing various statistics data for the rides and has ranking board for the most active reporters. After the infromation from riders is collected, it is combined with other open source data, like statstics of road accidents with bicycles allowing to rank the bicycle infrastructure problems by importance... Zero Hero wrote: Bin. The smart bin by zero hero has a transparent front which allows the user to see the trash as it collects. Having the trash visible at all times will help people develop a better connection to the waste they produce, and increase accountability. A scale is printed on the front window, indicating a score to be used in the gamification process. The scale is different for each material type, and makes it clear that landfill is the worst type of trash and should be avoided. Finally, the bins are fully colour coded, and have a graphic on the lid illustrating which items are accepted in each bin to comply with the german public waste management rules, educating users while removing as much margin of error as possible... As result, it will reduce the number of visits of the waste transport vehicles and aconsequently reduce the service fees and the co2emissions associated with the process. Such technology already exist in the markets at bigger sizes for the waste to energy power plants, as it improves the calorific properties of waste based fuels. But till now does not exist for kitchen or building sizes . Dispo will be designed in different sizes 1- kitchen size that could treat 5 kg/day of house/office use...
