1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

The children pedal to go from home to school or extra activities, and back home. This service will work with the participation of the neighbourhood parents' community, who will take turns in driving the bike bus. They will organise themselves through an app where they can register, communicate and visualize the route they have to take and the children they have to pick up. The same type of idea has been introduced in small towns in france since 4 years ago and the results are very positive. We can compare these small towns to theneighborhoodsin reykjavik... It animates children and their parents to take climate actions in their everyday life by showing simple solutions and more sustainable alternatives to traditional approaches. Children can participate in the challenge together with their classmates. Teachers use the provided information material to explain the challenges and their impact on climate change at school. For each challenge material with background information and further reading is provided. Pupils complete the challenges by uploading a photo to the app. The completed challenge needs to be approved by their teachers... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

There will be monthly themes and competitions, with small rewards (for example free concert within neighborhood from local band). These events will be an opportunity for learning, sharing skills and engaging the community which eventually will lead to co-creation.
