1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020
BioUrja is an efficient ready-to-assemble biogas generator from waste with remote monitoring system. Apart from producing biogas to replace fossil fuels, you also get organic manure as the byproduct. In addition, this relieves the need to treat hazardous human waste. BioUrja is an easy to setup solution with a two year payback time. The system provides biogas, avoiding emissions through fossil-fuels that would be used instead.

Our app has a gamification, where there is a virtual plant that grows as the citizen deposits the waste and receives points that can be reversed into benefits. The waste is sold to companies that use the product as raw material and our system will manage the collection, on demand. So companies gain greater accessibility to materials and save on storage logistics... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

Spent coffee grounds are residues that left behind in a quantities measurable in millions of tons, that mostly end up in landfill. We collect them and process within green technology, based on a unique combination of enzymatic and bacterial fermentation activity. The resulting product is enriched with physiologically essential compounds and exempted of anti-nutrients. It is several-fold health beneficial, being mainly intended for ruminants and highly recommended in lactating cows diet for improving the milk quality and reducing the risks of mastitis infections... But at milkywaste we also noticed decreasing prices of bovine milk in europe on one hand and increased production of powdered milk on the other hand. This can cause eu farmers to lose their jobs and for all of us to lose our beloved planet. That is why we found an environmentally friendly way to use casein from milk to produce biodegradable and even edible plastic and coating for needs in the packaging industry. By using our products, you are prolonging the expiration date and quality of your products. Thereby increasing the shelf life and reducing waste and cost of waste transfer... Furthermore most plastic coated papers are not suited to composting, but do variously end up in compost bins, sometimes even legally so. In this case, the remains of the non-biodegradble plastics components form part of the global microplastics waste problem. It would be so much easier, cheaper and faster if we had a truly biodegradable coating.
