1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Cold-rolled ribbed steel bar with high ductility

Cold-rolled ribbed steel bar with high ductility

Anyang Heli Techtronic Metallurgy New Technology Co., Ltd have developed cold-rolled ribbed steel bar with high ductility. It combines several manufacturing techniques to enhance the strength of steel bar, and then improves its ductility with heat treatment process to eliminate residual stress and repair the microstructure defects. The company claims that, compared to traditional hot-rolled technique, their technology saves about 40% of energy, as well as alloy materials, such as vanadium nitrogen, manganese silicon. Furthermore, to produce a ton of steel with their technology could save 130 kwh of power, as well as 9.3 kg standard coal, and cost near zero amount of water.

Conversion of waste plastics into liquid

Conversion of waste plastics into liquid

PlastoFuel wrote: End of life plastics (elp) consist of plastics that cannot be easily or economically recycled. Elp is often landfilled, cauterized, extruded for cost or drained illegally. As a result of these issues, plastic pollution is obstructing our planet. Colossal plastic gyres now exist in everywhere, poisoning the surrounding and generating serious risk to human and ecosystem health. Proper management of elp can reduce litter and protect environment. Plastofuel company’s technology introduces accessible solutions by producing synthetic fuels from waste plastics. Bamboo winding pipelines to replace piping

Bamboo winding pipelines to replace piping

Zhejiang Xinzhou Bamboo-based composites technology co., Ltd have developed a technology for bamboo winding pipelines that uses resin as adhesive instead of harmful chemicals. The company claims that bamboo pipes produced with their technology meets the security evaluation criteria of distribution equipment for drinking water. Thus, the solution has the potential to replace some welded steel pipes, PE pipes, and other traditional pipes in the market. Bamboo wood is a fast-growing source of timber which can be produced sustainably.

Module with heat-superconducting material and PV

Module with heat-superconducting material and PV

Solar hot water and PV power are the two main approaches to utilize solar energy at present. However, the energy conversion efficiency of solar water heater and PV modules still needs to be improved, and the average service life of water heater is only 3-5 years. Ecoway Energy Technology Group developed a micro heat pipe array heat using superconducting materials. Its thermal conductivity is about 5000 times greater than aluminium and with a high efficiency and durability. It avoids the common problems of traditional flat solar collector such as solder joints cracking, high antifreeze cost etc, which prolongs the lifetime.

Roof gardens with photovoltaics help tackle air pollution, increase biodiversity and transform buildings into self-sustaining living units. As the capital of europe, brussels should lead by example. The solution consists of green solar roofs as a nature-based services approach to improving air quality, serving as a carbon sink, reducing energy consumption and empowering brussels residents with “green deal challenge competition”. The target is to make 50% of roofs’ usable surface ‘working’ for cleaner air, heat absorption, energy production and well-being of residents by 2025 through community involvement via win-win challenge competition...
