1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Sofa for Life wrote: Walking around in glasgow i was shocked to see the amount of flytipped sofas on the streets. Talking to users i found that this decreased lifetime is caused by an inability to clean, transport or repair sofas easily. Fire retardants turn the sofa into hazardous waste and therefore every single sofa ends up in landfill. . The ‘sofa for life’ is the better alternative. The user customizes the sofa online and continues to adapt the sofa to accommodate their change of style or life situation. The sofa fits in the boot of a car and the simple assembly does not require any tools. The cushions are machine washable and each part of the sofa can be exchanged and updated.
