1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Optimization of indoor environment

Optimization of indoor environment

NuLight has developed a system for providing improved well-being of people and optimized resource usage by creating an optimal inside environment. This is done using a mix of technologies: Circadian lighting, which simulates sunlight and therefore the natural feeling inside a building, a motion sensor system that senses how different spaces inside a building is used and adapts the environment accordingly. Furthermore, the entire systems performs data collection and analysis to continuously adapt in order to optimize every part of the building.

Air pollution in metro cities and around the world has reached the hazardous level, 70 million people are dying every year due to air pollution (who). There are various solutions (like air purifying tower in china, water sprinklers and huge outdoor air purifiers) available to purify the outdoor air but they need land and time to construct & install and power (burn fossil fuel) for operations. . The major drawback of such solution they use external energy that is generated from the burning of fossil fuel in power plants. Such power plants are one of. WAIR wrote: Wair is on a mission to give discarded textiles a new life through the power of upcycling. In our first product, we transform "unperfect" jeans and workwear into modern and sustainable sneakers. Textile upcycling is overlooked in the circular fashion agenda, but it is a powerful recirculation strategy, that minimizes the need for new virgin material, and retains the value in the discarded fabrics. Apart from shoes, we also include the consumers in the production of upcycled fashion through upcycling workshops. Here we empower people to take up the fight against fast fashion while getting to create unique fashion pieces and letting their creativity loose... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Scaling sustainable transportation

Scaling sustainable transportation

Freelway has a service that optimizes transportation made by individuals and companies through visualization and coordination all transports within a system. Using algorithms to match transport requests with available resources, the solution offers one app-based service which provides economic and environmental benefits for all actors. The service also allows for the integration of a post delivery system for transporting last mile deliveries. The market group is currently rural and urban users.

Water purification for developing countries

Water purification for developing countries

SolarSack wrote: Solarsack can contain 4 liters of water, and with 4 hours in the sun, the water will be pasteurized, and ready to drink. With about 60 uses, a single solarsack can provide more than 240 liters of water. Solarsack is made to reduce shipping cost, and with a production price 1/5 the cost of a bucket of coal, solarsack can be sold at a profit, and still be affordable to the user. Solarsack is developed based on studies and prototyping in east africa, and the both the purification process and the user interaction is tested with the actual users in africa. Calculation including shipping and distribution still gives solarsack a 1/20 the co2 emission compared to boiling with charcoal, while totally eliminating the use of wood...
