Algae based solar efficiency enhancing material

Through the extraction of nanoporous material from algae, a material with unique light altering, absorbing, and releasing properties can be created. It is useful in a wide variety of industries, such as cosmetics and biomaterials. Of potential interest from a perspective of avoided emissions, is that the material has been shown to be able to increase the efficiency of solar panels and cells (PV) both in lab and in field. The coating can be used on solar cells to improve efficiency by 4-5 % depending on the installation scale.

Effective industrial drying of biomass

Swedish Exergy develops solutions for sustainability and optimization of energy usage in industry sectors such as energy, waste and paper, mainly in the areas of drying and bulk feeding solutions. One of the solutions is a steam dryer for biomass that recovers 80% or more of the input energy in a closed-loop system which stops any emissions from entering the atmosphere. According to the company it is also easy to maintain and to integrate with other processes for energy optimization.

Protection from electrical earth faults

Swedish Neutral offers systems for neutral treatment and earth fault protection that increases reliability and safety for medium and high voltage systems. Their Ground Fault Neutralizer system provides customers with a way of handling their earth faults in a safe way. The solution works by injecting an anti-phase current into the neutral which cancels out any fault current. This approach allows the fault to be dealt with quickly and without power outages for end-user.
