1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Consider the plight of 3. 5 billion people living in hot developing countries that need air-conditioning, but can't afford it. Further, acs are the biggest building ghgs contributor, accounting for 34% of total ghg emissions. There is a dire need to find sustainable means of mitigating & adapting to a hotter climate. Geoaircon is an innovative & cost-effective solution for providing air-conditioning to the masses. With geoaircon, the cooler underground is effectively utilized for cooling through specially designed heat exchangers. This is immensely effective in providing thermal and financial relief while reducing environmental impact... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Grassroots Energy has developed the first economically viable technology for purification and compression of biogas at smaller scales (100 m3/day). The compressed gas can be used for several markets such as cooking, transportation and agriculture, all of which Grassroots deem as viable markets. According to the company, it is uses 50 % energy compared to market alternatives. The purified compressed gas can reduce the impact of indoor cooking on human health as opposed to traditional alternatives.

Our product is a modular tube system that collects rainwater, and uses it for growing plants in vertical space, inspired by bamboo trees. Place a few on your balcony and you will have a green space that won’t take much of your limited area; or create a community rooftop garden by putting several tubes together resembling an urban forest! . Many cities, such as athens, are experiencing issues with heat island effect. Bringing more plants into the city will help in mitigating this effect... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

The solution is developed as a small-scale and localised/distributed gasification of agricultural and municipal solid waste. The waste comes with a high level of inorganic matter. The organic matter can be further utilized for energy production which could offset the need for some fossil-fueled energy production.
