1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

PlanArrivals wrote: Cesis municipality is located in the sensitive nature area that gets increasingly popular among visitors and is going to need extra protection in the future in order to keep the unique value of the fragile ecosystem. City gets irregular streams of visitors during the festivals and other events where additional services are needed from the municipality such as overnight stay options, waste management, public toilets, etc. The final solution is going to provide data mining and modelling services to the municipalities. Publicly available data is going to be analysed; in addition, the calculation of the visitors at the current moment is going to be performed... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

To Bee wrote: Our solution is to create ecosytem service which will help to bring more bees into gauja national park area and they with the ability of pollinate flora will help to sustain the biological diversity. Moreover, we see it not just as placing bee hives in the park area but also creating system to take care of them. There we see local community as a crucial player - we will ensure course for local cesis inhabitants to learn basics about beekeeping and they will be the ones taking care of bee farm. In addition to that, gauja national park and cirulisi nature trails are popular attraction points for tourists... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

In order to be able to distinguish a legal fisherman, a fishing license chips are issued to which the drone can send a signal. Our team name is laivu-drons.. Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

City exploration with an augmented reality

ExploreThis wrote: If you are lucky enough that when getting ready to take a trip you have stumbled upon explorethis and adventurous enough to try it, you might just have a great experience. When walking the streets of the city you are visiting you notice the familiar logo thats on a tile fixed on the ground, you take out the application and view the tile through the screen, then the ar (augmented reality) kicks in and you are able to take a 360 view and see interesting objects to visit every direction and the distances all around you. You can zoom-in/zoom-out to regulate how far are the objects as well as set the interesting object types... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

Hike&Bike

Hike&Bike

Hike&Bike wrote: Hike&bike provides a solution to the current nature mobility problem where the trails are scattered between many different platforms and provide only part of the information needed for a great hike or a bike ride. The solution would unite the currently available routes in a single user and mobile-friendly plugin/app, which allows the user to select their preferred difficulty level, mobility solution, read and leave reviews. The idea also relates to the current challenges faced by the cēsis city where the city center is poorly connected with its periphery and thereby it is a challenge to reach some of it's best-known nature tourism spots... This service has been on a high demand, but local businesses have not managed to offer such type of services. Educational game encouraging Sustainable behaviour

Educational game encouraging Sustainable behaviour

Eco Buddy wrote: Our goal is to encourage people to think and learn about the biggest challenge of 21st century – climate change, which is hugely impacted by the waste we create (1/3 of food produced globally is wasted!). To do this we've invented a method&educational board game which is based on the processes of item production, our usage habits, educating about the environmental impact, circular thinking and recycling options. We help teachers to set sustainable thinking into children (10+) through an easy & playful approach... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Sustainable cosmetic ingredients

Sustainable cosmetic ingredients

Alternative Plants wrote: Alternative plants produces cosmetic active ingredients using plant stem cell cultures from medicinal plants that are rare, endangered or are difficult to gather in the wild. By growing batches of plant cells from only a tiny wild sample, we make the inaccessible accessible – our technology is the only way how to access beneficial substances produced by endangered plants. Our technology is scalable to consistent production in industrial bioreactors. Production is highly standardized and, compared to traditional botanical ingredient production, risks of seasonality and pollution are completely excluded...
