1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Bio - Alkanol Gel Fuel

Bio - Alkanol Gel Fuel

Bio - Alkanol Gel Fuel wrote: It is estimated that in kenya, biomass fuels account for more than 90% of primary energy supply regardless of the adverse effects it has on the environment. Bio-alkanol gel is a thick liquid fuel which is a mixture of alkanol, cellulose and water. It’s an alternative biofuel which has been innovated so as to reduce kenya’s reliance on imported petroleum based products. Exploitation of sugars in mango, banana, watermelon, orange and papaya fruit peelings through microbial fermentation and egg shells as a source of bio-fuel is a novel undertaking. The conversion of fruit peeling cellulose biomass into cellulosic-alkanol and egg shells into calcium acetate (gelling agent) is an innovative way of turning waste into wealth. ... Turn waste to clean energy

Turn waste to clean energy

Clean Planet wrote: We process different types of waste into highly flammable gas. We use the gas to generate steam for different applications. Including electricity, drying, hospital sterilizing heating and cleaning. Different waste feed stock leaves different residue. Plastic leaves nothing, rubber leaves black carbon safe material for road construction, aggro-waste like sugarcane and maize stalk leave. Char which is used to make briquettes, this is a clean fuel for cooking and barbecue application. No residue ever goes to the landfill if our innovation is implemented. No waste is transported to a landfill very far from where it was generated. We do not store waste at all. Waste will be processed to energy in our portable unit... Delivering bio-alkanol gel fuel

Delivering bio-alkanol gel fuel

Alkagel Ltd wrote: This innovation addresses agro/biowaste conversion and therefore exploits fruit peelings and poultry-derived eggshells as raw materials to deliver economical and renewable biofuel capable of significantly lowering wood-based fuels, parafin and gas-based fuel dependency by rural communities in kenya, uganda and tanzania. Biofuels play significant roles in decarburization of our future energy needs and act to mitigate deleterious impacts of greenhouse gas emissions. The bio-alkanol gel fuel has orange peals as a raw material. Orange fruits accumulate the monoterpene limonene in their oil glands (badawy et al. 2017). Bio-akanol gel repels mosquitoes since d-limonene is incorporated into the bio-alkanol gel fuel... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

For these farmers, life can feel like a constant guessing game, and lack of data leads to uninformed farming decisions on fertilizers, seeds and other inputs. Farmers have lost an average of 40 kilograms of macronutrient per hectare every year -- the equivalent of us$5 billion/year worth of fertilizer. . Ujuzikilimo proprietary low cost sensor technology measures soil moisture, ph, nutrient levels (n, p, and k), location, and electrical conductivity (ec). We convert plastic waste

We convert plastic waste

Mega Gas wrote: People all over the world use fuels everyday to survive and move. Traditional forms of fuels comprise biomass and fossil fuels. These fuels forms have been over strained beyond limits, exploitation of biomass fuels have degraded eco system. This leads to global warming and hence introducing new clean fuels into use to replace dependence on traditional fuels with the hope of reducing global warming and improving health of majority of population who have no access to fuels. The use of biomass fuels leads to indoor pollution that kills over four million annually according to world health organization. Plastic waste is also a big menace world wide, even now we have the island of plastic in the pacific ocean... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Smart Wood Solution

Smart Wood Solution wrote: The world has a plastic waste problem. It is shocking how valuable ressorces are wasted. Our goal is to make use of it and do business and create social and ecological impacts!. Instead of dumping and burning the waste wildly we will buy the plastic from the communities which generates a new income source and fights poverty while the plastic will end up in our factory, recycled and processes to smart wood solution. Smart wood solution is a synthetic timber. Such a material is demanded in kenya and other developing countries as is will help to reduce deforestation and wood shortage. E. G. Efficient solar modules for electric vehicles

Efficient solar modules for electric vehicles

Sharp Corporation have developed a solar module with one of the world’s highest conversion efficiencies, which enables on-vehicle charging for electric vehicles (EVs) to increase their range without frequent plug-in battery charging. A triple-junction compound was used to capture a wider range of the spectrum of sunlight, leading to a conversion efficiency for a solar module of 31.17% for 968 cm². With such a high rate of efficiency, the modules can be integrated into EV design and have an impact on energy generation.
