1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030
These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.
These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

By covering the soil with mats of fiber around our prototype area, we will lay the foundation for a new, fertile soil. On the top of it, we will spread a fertile soil mixture cointaining terra preta. Having set up the two layers of mats and the fertile soil, we plant a crop which can be harvested up to three times per year. With the yield (the fiber part of the plant) we will create more mats, which we use to cover the soil of the brownfield again. In that way, we will create a natural co2-sink, which 1. ) takes up co2 from the environment and 2. ) fertilizes the ground and 3. ) creates jobs... Source: EIT Climate KIC's Climathon

Tomapaint meets the demand for sustainable production and for the safeguarding of consumer health, at the same time increasing the competitiveness of the metal cans industry, valorizing the wastes produced by the preserved industry and reducing refuse. The highly innovative eco-friendly packaging is less dangerous for consumer health with less risk of contamination and is able to compete with other packaging materials, such as bioplastics... It allows farmers to adopt organic farming fertilizing their crop, protects from any insect or disease with 10% to 50% less water. Taazagrow cuts the energy and transportation cost required to manufacture and deliver huge quantity of fertilizer and pesticides used for conventional farming. Saving approximately 100% of the carbon emitted during the whole production and supply chain. In addition of organic matter in soil by decomposing the organic waste, it restores natural soil fertility, kills harmful microbes and degrade toxic organic chemicals. This eventually improves crop production by 20-30%... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Smart Wings provides an aerodynamic solution to help the transport industry lower their fuel consumption by up to 3%. The products work by reducing turbulence generated by the differences in pressure in the vehicle. It also decreases oscillation of the vehicle rear, thus increasing the general driving stability. The company designs, manufacture, install and perform maintenance of their devices, and provides tailored solutions for each customer.

We believe that one of the root causes of this situation is lack of proper awareness among household consumers, who are willing to do the right thing but require more knowledge and tools. The solution is developed as a small-scale and localised/distributed gasification of agricultural and municipal solid waste. The waste comes with a high level of inorganic matter. The organic matter can be further utilized for energy production which could offset the need for some fossil-fueled energy production.
