1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Flood Risk assessment

Flood Risk assessment

GeoRisk wrote: Georisk is a web service application which provides flood risk predictive models to identify potential future flooded areas. The implemented algorithm is disruptive and supplies essential and unprecedented geospatial information with the aim of supporting insurance, reinsurance and catastrophe modeling companies in saving costs and introducing efficiencies in their business processes. These innovative risk models are developed relying on deep learning cloud architectures applied to copernicus earth observation datasets acquired by the sentinel missions. Georisk is marketed through a monthly subscription with a limited number of area risk assessment analysis allowed for each license and at different levels of spatial/temporal resolution... EasyGy wrote: Easygy is a platform called to empower people in the fight against climate change, creating a digital platform that allows them to know their energy consumption in real time in their homes, thus facilitating their decision-making and implementation of efficiency measures to reduce their co2 emissions saving costs along the way. The problem of domestic energy efficiency has an added difficulty: individual to individual, home to home must be tackled. Our vision is to offer a solution to this issue through information technologies and the creation of an ecosystem that, involving governments, companies and people, stops the reduction of emissions related to domestic energy efficiency. Temperature sensitive ink

Temperature sensitive ink

Mysteria Colorum - MyCol wrote: About quarter of temperature sensitive food is wasted due to improper storing temperature, and still we may have troubles with low quality and unsafe food. Our solution is producing temperature sensitive ink and printing colour-changing labels. Food producers will use them on each individual temperature-sensitive product to indicate if it was not overheated. This will help preventing food waste during storing and transport and enable consumers to trust in the food quality... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Innovative eco-sustainable cement

Innovative eco-sustainable cement

A.G.MA. wrote: The external insulation system reduces energy waste and maintains an ideal temperature longer inside buildings. The insulation of buildings is expensive and the products on the market do not last long at high temperatures, which makes the currently used materials not accessible to a large portion of the population. Agma unlike other manufacturers of insulating materials, produces cement foam panels through an innovative process that reduces the price by 55%. The panels are fireproof and high temperatures resistant, giving greater security to homes. The price of the product is competitive because we use fly ash as a raw material, a waste product from thermoelectric plants... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

IoT for facility management

IoT for facility management

Yanzi and Pythagoras cooperate using IoT for facility management to optimize the usage of office space. By placing sensors they know the precise usage of all desks and meeting rooms, and once they have the full picture they can reorganise so that the use of the office space increases. Most office spaces are only utilized about 50% of the time. By measuring and optimizing this rate can be increased and thereby energy is saved for heating, cooling and lighting and in the long term less buildings will need to be constructed.

Small scale power system

Small scale power system

WiLL wrote: Mini wind-powered systems represent an important solution in the energy generation market: they are clean, co-effective in terms of installation and maintenance, and generate appropriate amounts of power for housing and enterprises with limited power needs. These technologies have however a limited market space due to the lack of enough windiness in most areas, as well as a negative visual impact on the environment. . Will offers a new concept of wind turbine, that improves the technology both in efficiency and visual impact: its innovative design will allow the installation and inclusion of wind turbines in urban environments... Solar master map for Dhaka city

Solar Master Map wrote: Bangladesh is set to face a major challenge with the exhaustion of natural gas sources being predicted to be as soon as 2025. The government is therefore trying to shift to alternate sources of energy. Solar irradiation absorbed in bangladesh is about 4-6(kwh/m2/day) and sunshine amounts to 2,500 hours per year. Yet, we see that most rooftops in the dhaka city has not installed solar panels despite the government incentives. Our solution focuses on addressing this major challenge with a participatory planning approach. We want to make solar potential maps using remote sensing and geographic information systems...
