1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Flood Risk assessment

Flood Risk assessment

GeoRisk wrote: Georisk is a web service application which provides flood risk predictive models to identify potential future flooded areas. The implemented algorithm is disruptive and supplies essential and unprecedented geospatial information with the aim of supporting insurance, reinsurance and catastrophe modeling companies in saving costs and introducing efficiencies in their business processes. These innovative risk models are developed relying on deep learning cloud architectures applied to copernicus earth observation datasets acquired by the sentinel missions. Georisk is marketed through a monthly subscription with a limited number of area risk assessment analysis allowed for each license and at different levels of spatial/temporal resolution... Clean water solutions to all

Clean water solutions to all

GermSafe Technology wrote: In india and other developing countries, hand-pumps are the primary devices use to get the ground water available. Considering the lack of awareness, low income, and unavailability of continuous supply of electricity, people from rural areas can't afford water treatment facilities and hence prone to water borne diseases. So, this inspired us to create water disinfecting hand-pump in which a small modification in the existing set-up can serve as water treatment solution. We have successfully implemented at pilot scale followed by field trials at 15 villages in maharashtra. This modification in the pumping system resulted in ~95% water disinfection (~99. 87% for e. Coli). Our device doesn't require electricity and chemicals to operate... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

Electrochemical recuperator (ECR) batteries

Electrochemical recuperator (ECR) batteries

Electrochemical Recuperator (ECR) represents a new class of batteries, introducing an alternative to existing energy storage technology. ECRs use water-based non-toxic electrolytes, which reduce fire risks and environmental hazards compared to conventional batteries. ECR cells’ manufacturing process has approximately five times lower carbon footprint than conventional Li-Ion batteries, according to the innovator. ECRs are constructed to endure more than 1 million charging cycles without major loss of performance characteristics. ECRs do not use scarce or ethically tainted materials.
