1000 innovative clean energy solutions and > 150 framework enablers with the potential to deliver more than twelve gigatonnes of avoided emissions by 2030

These assessments are based on a basic avoided emission assessment. The overall concept of avoided emissions is that a solution (product or service) enables the same function to be performed with significantly less GHG emissions. The method of measuring avoided emissions, is to compare a baseline scenario without the enabling solution, with a scenario using the enabling solution; whereby the baseline represents the ‘business as usual’ (BAU) scenario.

These assessments are based on the framework document: The Avoided Emissions Framework (AEF) from September 2020

Enabling farmers in developing countries

Enabling farmers in developing countries

Goats for Water wrote: Goats for water provides alternative financing mechanisms enabling cash-poor smallholder farmers to buy essential household & farming assets such as solar water-pumps, solar home systems and fertlizers. Households pay for the products with goats which uptrade then sells for a profit. Most rural communities lack cash to buy assets that meet their basic needs. Gfw has successfully launched in pakistan serving 7,000 farmers with an 11-person team. Their goat financing mechanism is in place. 16. Rural communities, where solar water pumps now bring water to 22,400 people. They have introduced a goats for solar model, where households can finance purchases of solar home systems, solar tvs and radios with goats... Source: EIT Climate KIC's ClimateLaunchPad

The companies providing the environmentally superior offerings struggle to get this message to consumers. . Our solution: a green product star rating system (like defaqto in the uk insurance market). We will become a trusted, independent, household name in providing green consumer advice. . Why now: there has been a large (and continuing) shift in consumer sentiment in the past 18 months. Many consumers now want to be sure they are making the right purchasing decisions for the environment, but there are no independent experts focussed on helping them make those decisions. ... GOYTI. Sustainable mobility solutions

GOYTI. Sustainable mobility solutions wrote: Almost 3/4 of the population lives in urban areas where transport generates almost 50% of the pollutants that harm people's health. Actual vehicles to move around cities are inefficient and are underused so we address this problem by creating efficient, clean and safe mobility solutions for urban areas adapted to the real needs of the people. Materials used nowadays on vehicles construction come from finite resources as steel, aluminium and petrol; therefore these generate a huge carbon footprint and a unacceptable bad impact to the environment and to the people’s health and life quality... Bio-Urja: low cost dry anerobic digestor

Bio-Urja: low cost dry anerobic digestor

BioUrja is an efficient ready-to-assemble biogas generator from waste with remote monitoring system. Apart from producing biogas to replace fossil fuels, you also get organic manure as the byproduct. In addition, this relieves the need to treat hazardous human waste. BioUrja is an easy to setup solution with a two year payback time. The system provides biogas, avoiding emissions through fossil-fuels that would be used instead.

Small plastic cylinders for high-efficiency dishwashing

Small plastic cylinders for high-efficiency dishwashing

Granuldisk has developed a new type of dish washers, where small pieces of plastic called Powergranules are incorporated into the dishwashers, scratching off unwanted residue from cooking pots and pans. This is combined with high pressure and water to make sure the clean process is finished. According to their website, the amount of water and energy needed to obtain the same result is reduced when using Powergranules. The products also replace many chemicals that are used in traditional dish washers.

Energy storage in graphene-based super capacitators

Energy storage in graphene-based super capacitators

Graphene can be used to make aluminium composite materials. One problem with using graphene is that it easily agglomerates and cannot be used that extensively for that reason. The Aros Graphene solves this problem and makes it possible to use graphene to make aluminium composite materials. Graphene is a highly conductive and lightweight material that can be used to make aluminium composite materials. According to Graphmatech AB, using graphene in aluminium composite can reduce about 50-70 % of aluminium in products. This means that about 50-70 % less energy for aluminium production is needed.

Low cost small scale bio-CNG upgrading

Grassroots Energy has developed the first economically viable technology for purification and compression of biogas at smaller scales (100 m3/day). The compressed gas can be used for several markets such as cooking, transportation and agriculture, all of which Grassroots deem as viable markets. According to the company, it is uses 50 % energy compared to market alternatives. The purified compressed gas can reduce the impact of indoor cooking on human health as opposed to traditional alternatives.

AI-based platform for smart driving

AI-based platform for smart driving

Greater Than’s platform can reduce fuel consumption and increase driver awareness through driving data analysis. Customers insert an on-board diagnostic module into the USB port of their car. This is synced to the driver’s smart phone and information is fed to the cloud. Based on how the driver performs, the innovation, called Enerfy Driving, gives low-risk or high-risk scores. Low-risk drivers are those that drive generating the least amount of environmental impact. The technology processes large amounts of driving data, algorithms performing risk assessment are built on machine learning and generate data in real time.
